Get to know me better

As a parent of two neurodiverse young people — one of whom is also transgender — I deeply understand the unique challenges that can come with growing up in a world that often doesn’t accommodate difference.

My professional journey has always been rooted in supporting children and young people. I began as a primary school teacher before moving into group therapy, where I supported young siblings of children with disabilities. In addition, I’ve worked as a counsellor in primary, secondary, and special schools, helping young people navigate the difficulties they face both at home and in the classroom.

This work is also personal to me. I have a neurodiverse sibling, which has given me lifelong insight into the complexities and resilience that often accompany neurodivergence. These lived and professional experiences shape my empathetic and inclusive approach to supporting others.

I am warm, friendly and work in a child-centred, creative way to allow the young person to feel comfortable, understood and build resilience and improve their overall wellness.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most valuable aspect of counselling.  As each young person is unique, I develop an individual plan to address their specific needs and goals.

Who I work with .

Children

Children may benefit from counselling if they are dealing with anxiety, behavioural issues, trauma or abuse. The school environment can raise anxiety, academic stress or social difficulties. In addition, family issues such as divorce, loss, or relocation can cause stress.

Adolesence

Adolescence is a challenging time, but being neurodiverse can add unique difficulties. Whether this is social issues, sensory, school or emotional and mental health challenges.  I can unpick and support your teenager on this journey.

Young Adults

Transition into adulthood can be a scary and exciting time. It is a period of identity formation, independence, career choices and relationship development- counselling can help with the transition and self-definition.

What happy clients are saying

Marie is a warm and friendly person who my daughter took too easily.  She enjoyed the sessions & quickly Marie identified what was causing her issues and in a few weeks, I saw such an improvement in my daughter's happiness.  Child aged 9

Sibling Support

Thank you for providing a safe environment in which my daughter was happy to open up in.  We have tried other things previously, which she remained quiet in but talking to  you , she has flourished. Aged 9.
